The past few days have been slightly difficult on the eating front and I’m still reeling. Healthy, healthy, healthy is on mind and I’m trying to stay confident in myself and my strength.
With that said, and without getting too mushy and/or cheesily inspirational, I’d like to make some goals that will help make things a bit easier on my mind. I find that with “ground rules” written down, it is much easier for me to do what I know is right instead of allowing myself to fall into old comforts.
1. Don’t mindlessly eat. Take a serving and run before the overeating cycle can kick in.
2. Drink at least 5 big bottles (16ish oz.) of water. I haven’t been hydrating nearly enough.
3. When emotions begin to kick in, do yoga or go for a quick walk. Don’t reach for the snacks because that will only end badly. Emotional eating is not the answer
4. If I believe I am genuinely hungry, drink a glass of water. If I’m still hungry after that, eat a small snack. Sounds simple enough (or maybe restrictive to some) but it’s much more difficult to listen to your body’s hunger cues than it sounds.
5. Get enough sleep. The world (and being healthy) seems much less daunting when you’re not on the cusp of exhaustion..
Hi Ellie. I am in your exact shoes. However, I have an injury at this time that is preventing me from running, so I am just doing a lot of cross training. I am trying to get over a cycle of restrictive/binge eating. Sounds like you are doing the same. Send me an email and let me know a little more about your situation??? Maybe we can help each other through this.
Can I borrow your goals for today too?
and life, in general of course. Great ideas! I’m really loving your blog!
good luck with your health goals!! I’m sure you’ll be able to accomplish every single one!!
