I had a fairly successful shopping trip this morning.

I could have gotten soooo much more but I was trying not to overdo it (which I am so good at when it comes to grocery shopping). I love food and I love having my own food, but I always forget that I have a meal plan that needs to be used up and I don’t have hundreds of dollars to spend at the grocery store…no matter how much I wish I did.
I do think that I got a good amount for the $33 that I spent…especially since I got both nectarines and pears (which had a bit higher prices than usual). It would have only be $29 if I hadn’t gotten some candy hearts for the girls in my hall. But I figured I should at least attempt to be spirited, even though I felt rotten.
On a tangent, I noticed that my Thomas’ bagels had HFCS in them. I do not like that one bit. I was going to buy another brand but steered away because of the higher price (by almost $1.50!). I think that next time I need to “splurge” and get the more expensive brand because I don’t like the idea of ingesting lots of HFCS. But what’s done and is done and at least now I am aware.
Pre-lunch, at around 11:30ish, my stomach was grumbling like nobody’s business, so I had a string cheese that was just too perfect. I haven’t had string cheese in months but whenever I do I am automatically transported back to my childhood, which is never a bad thing (if you ask me). I’m glad I bought it.

Lunch was spicy today. My mouth is still on fire. Yikes. I couldn’t even finish the salad because my mouth was burning so badly, which is a first for me. How did this happen? I took another trip to the salad bar (with all of it’s southwestern fixin’s) today and filled my container with:
-
Romaine lettuce
-
Grape tomatoes
-
Mushrooms
-
Black beans
-
Jalapeno peppers
-
Salsa
On the side I had a few Kashi Fire-Roasted vegetable crackers and a hard-boiled egg. Scrumptious. I also ended up having a banana before heading off to class…but because I was on the run I didn’t take a picture (obviously).

Don’t you love those Kashi TLC crackers!?! I eat them like it’s my job!
I was seriously shocked at how much I liked them. It was my first time buying them today. I will never go back to saltines again…
